GREAT WEEKEND

Another great weekend was spent with the Woodward's at their amazing Bed and Breakfast, Hallauer House. We spent tons of time by the pool, eating the amazing food Joe grilled, and teasing the kids. It was a really nice night, followed up by a visit to the Oberlin College Campus for their illumination night, a night before graduation where the whole community comes together to celebrate...with thousands of these colored lanterns strung through the square, and art show from the local high school kids, and home made pieces of pie...man I wish I had gone to Oberlin College, such a beautiful town with wonderful citizens...what more do you need than a local pizza place, Lorenzo's, a great coffee shop, and one theatre that is still $3.00 and shows only one movie at a time!

The Oberlin High School art show.

From the back, Paige, Emily, and Brooke! I promised I wouldn't put their pictures on here, hmmmm guess I lied ;)

The girls D & M...lounging and tanning.

Max

So while I was taking pet pictures earlier in the week for my pet post, Max, the only male in our household was eluding me (the photo that I posted was at least two years old)...but not last night! He wanted to be a star!

He is so handsome, don't you think?

One of my favorite things about him is the hair coming out of his ears, like an old man. Love it.

Evaluating

Lettuce...The whole garden...
Cilantro...
Lavender...
I have no clue...
Don't know what this is either...
or this...

My 32nd birthday is coming up and I have been thinking a lot about my life. I was reading my journals from junior high and high school and my plan was to read them all the way through and then burn them at Amelia's parents or sister's whenever they had one of their infamous summer bonfires. I needed to reread them and they were so depressing that I could only get through two of the eight. At this moment I want them gone, I would like to forget that they even exist. With that I say that things are going really great for us...we have plans, we own this house, I am starting grad. school either in a couple of weeks or in the fall, we are actually attempting to save some money, we are going to Seattle in October for Amelia's birthday and we are excited...

Another exciting adventure for us has been what to do with this house and the yard. When I was a kid my mom always had a garden and Amelia's family loves gardening so it made a ton of sense for us to plant a garden so we did (with Emily's help) a few weekends ago and above are some of the results. Including some flower shots...Enjoy, we certainly are.

Update

Our show this past weekend was fabulous...and no we weren't able to take any photos but if I come across any that other people may have taken I will post those. My mermaid skirt stayed on after a dress rehearsal of it falling off of me twice...good thing I had on tights underneath.

Amelia, Shane, and Alyson came on Saturday night and thought it was hilarious, and my family came Sunday afternoon and enjoyed it at well.

I am torn about whether or not I will be able to stay in once I started classes (oh yeah I got into school by the way) but I guess we will see.

Hope everyone out there in blog land is well.

:)

The Pet Post

I've decided to write a quick post about our pets. This first picture is of our dog, Bridgette. She is about 15 years old and we've only had her for a few years. We sort of inherited her when Amelia's grandmother passed away and boy are we glad that we did. Bridgette is the sweetest, most loving dog. When we brought her home with us I had never had a dog before so for me I was very excited and having her has been nothing but rewarding.

Next, we have Max shown here and his sister Raven shown below. These two cats were Christmas gifts to me from Amelia awhile back. I asked for one little kitten and she came home with two. When Amelia went to see the kittens she originally was going to get Max for me but while she was looking at him and the others running around, Raven crawled into the cat carrier and fell asleep. Needless to say Amelia couldn't split them up and she couldn't just leave Raven there to possibly get hit by a car so I got both for Christmas :)

Here's Raven...she's the one who crawled into the cat carrier making her way into Amelia's heart first. Which is probably why she likes Amelia much better than she likes me. She can be sweet though...

This is Charlotte, she is the newest and youngest addition to our pet family. Amelia got her last October from her sister for her birthday. Charlotte is very, very, very cute but she is crazy. I have so many scars from this little kitten.

Something that is especially cute about her is that the tip of her tail is bent in the shape of an L. The vet says he thinks she was attacked by something in the woods (where she was found) and that it had a hold of her tail and it was broken with her trying to get away.

Two more cute shots of Bridgette.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was enjoyed by one and all last weekend. I went to Cleveland to hang out with my sister, my mom, and my nephew.
My mom is pretty damn funny, she was talking the whole time about cell phones and how she thinks it would be fun to have one...in particular she wants one of those bluetooth ear piece things...she cracks me up. I don't even have a bluetooth!
This is our Charlie's Angels pose :)

A Second to Myself

Long time no see! I have been so busy and caught up with life to post for awhile. What's been taking up so much of my time, well it's the damn Columbus Women's Chorus!

I've been practicing like crazy for the upcoming show on the 19th and 20th...I am going to be a mermaid in the show, I am guessing that when they see the tattoo on my thigh the women in the chorus will be quite surprised...'nuf said!

We are singing about 15 songs, with an actual story going on throughout the show...so needless to say...I've been learning songs...four of which are in other languages....learning my mermaid lines...learning the dances....learning when to move to the wings and when to move to the aisles....and when to do the Lakota circle dance...whew I am pooped.

I'll be back, don't count me out!

Summer

Summer is a sure fire sign of busy weekends! I was saying to a coworker yesterday that I am actually dreading this weekend starting at this ungodly hour of 8:10 a.m. I have been up since 7 because I am meeting with my new mentor for the scholarship that I won, and then I have chorus practice from 1-4 and then a welcome home party for a friend who just returned from Iraq. We were also supposed to be going to a Cinco Di Mayo party this evening but, after rethinking the logistics of the day I had to respond "no" to the evite. How much does that suck? It's better than sitting on my ass watching TV I suppose but whew...I'm already tired and a teensy bit grumpy!
