I AM: 31 today, bored, unmotivated, unsure and under enthused
I WANT: a coke, El Vaquero, and lots and lots of books
I WISH: I was thin and smart (er) and more motivated
I HATE: intolerance and snobbery
I LOVE: tons of things...tons of people...tons of books...tons of movies...I've got a lot of love going around right now
I MISS: my mammie and my determination
I FEAR: water and the dark
I HEAR: a Gilmore Girls rerun
I WONDER: when I will get it together, money, school, work....all of the things you should have together by the time you are 31
I REGRET: my indiscretions in high school, not going to see my grandmother before she died, not taking myself out of the situation with my dad when I never should have gotten involved in the first place
I AM NOT: especially affectionate or loving
I DANCE: much more often than anyone knows, in my desk chair, in my car, when I am in the shower
I SING: as much as I dance...and very well...though I don't sing in front of anyone except Amelia. I have been in many choirs, I recently auditioned for Sweet Adelines and got in but dropped out because...see I AM:
I CRY: rarely and usually when I am about to go to sleep, Amelia must think I am nuts
I AM NOT ALWAYS: honest
I MAKE WITH MY HANDS: tons of food, I have been trying to cook a ton of new things
I WRITE: nothing really...I was really into writing for awhile but lately not so much. I sometimes miss it.
I HAVE ALWAYS CONFUSED: lust and love
I NEED: to be on a budget, to get into school, to get on the treadmill
I SHOULD: just be happy with what I have and who I am
I START: many books and many things around the house that never get finished
I FINISH: most of the books and most of the things around here

Busy Bees

This was quite the busy weekend. Today is one of my oldest friends birthdays, she celebrating her 29th for the third time and it was quite the event. We went to a party at her place on Saturday night, got a little drunk, ate some great food and in general had a really good time. Amelia and I tend to avoid parties with these particular friends because it seems like everyone they invite includes a ton of my exes. It's quite frightening to run into exes out in public but to spend an extended period of time with them in a small house, not my idea of fun. But I did my best to avoid so it turned out ok. This morning the party continued, we went to Color Your World in Easton to paint out own pottery. I am fairly crafty, artsy, etc... so for me this was a good time. This evening we are having pot roast (MY FAVORITE) , stuffing, rolls, and veggies for dinner! Wow, what a great week-end! *despite the exes :)*

I am not...

A baby person. I do not see babies in malls, in grocery stores, or in bellies and fawn over them or their mothers. I am not the mothering type, right now Amelia is upstairs asleep, she is very sick and what did I do...I went out and got her soup and NyQuil when all she wanted was to lay down and be babied...I'm no good at it, I don't really cry either...which is a surefire sign that I should not be a parent...right?
Either way our friends Jen and Mandy are expecting a baby and today they found out it's a....GIRL!

And randomly enough who is super duper excited about it, me! I cried when we found out, I cried when Jen got past those months everyone worries about, I cried! What the hell...someone better tell me it's hormones and that it will pass ;) Either way Jen, I know you read this and I could not be happier, you deserve it and baby Dawn (that's her name right) will be the luckiest gal ever! I love you.

I have been too lazy, too sick, and too busy...
to blog...
All of the above...true!
Here's the lowdown on The Woodward-Thompson household...
1. Amelia is crazy happy at her job and because of that I am crazy happy for her :)
2. Our littlest kitten Charlotte got spayed today so hopefully her ADHD ass will calm down.
3. I cashed in my Valentine's Day gift today, an hour long massage with our masseuse Kitty Temple, weird name but great hands.
4. Amelia and I both have been sick on and off for the past few weeks, I think we just keep passing it back and forth to each other...we need to Lysol this whole damn house!
5. Amelia and I are thinking of taking a trip to the Caribbean in July. A favorite camper
(Hi Laura) of mine when I worked with the Girl Scouts is now in the Peace Corps and she has invited us and I don't' think we can say no. She is doing some really great things there and I would love to see her in her element.
6. This past Saturday the girls, Megan (the bride), Alyson, Crystal, Karen, and I (the bridesmaids) all got our dresses for the September wedding...and we look great if I do say so myself ;)
7. I finally got up the nerve to e-mail the Holocaust Museum in DC about my dad's freaky deaky Nazi stuff, I am going to try to donate it anonymously...mostly because I don't want to be associated with it and I don't want anyone to simply believe he was a collector...this was not a collection, so if anyone wants one last look before they are gone, let me know.
8. My contract at work is about to expire on March 31st...not much to say about it.
9. I have applied to one graduate program (because it has weird deadlines I had to do it now or wait until January) The Masters of Library Science Program at Kent State, they hold the classes on OSU's campus.
10. Tomorrow Amelia goes to court for the third time where she is the only attorney to talk and she is pumped...I'm sure she'll win!
11. Amelia and I are also thinking of taking a short 4 day road trip to Ann Arbor for no other reason than we can drive there in just a few hours and we've never spent time there.
12. Work is crazy right now, my latest project took forever and I finally finished it today...thank the goddess!
13. Amelia and I are also ready to use our Christmas gift from her parents Joe and Sue...they got us spinning classes (STOP LAUGHING) no I am not athletic and no I do not enjoy working out but for Joe and Sue, I'll do it and I WILL LIKE IT!
14. Loralei and Christopher broke up! ;) HALLELUJAH :)
That's about it...peace out peeps

I'm pretty sick...so this is what you get
1. Take five books off your bookshelf.
2. Book #1 -- first sentence
3. Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
4. Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
5. Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
6. Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
7. Make the five sentences into a paragraph:
And here it is:
When I was little, I was so girlie and ambitious, I was practically a drag queen. Moreover, she could, when it served her purpose, command an almost irresistible charm--as, indeed, can any true witch. He also didn't change his voice: his every utterance was delivered in the Poetry-Reading Voice-stifled, self-conscious, in awe of its own profundity. She said we might as well do our gifts now. I can begin with the bruise.
For the record, my five books were…
1. Hypocrite in a Pouffy White Dress- Susan Jane Gilman
2. A Documentary History of Prejudice against Women IN HER PLACE- S.T. Joshi
3. That's True of Everybody- Mark Winegardner
4. Occasions of Sin- Sandra Scofield
5. A Student of Weather-Elizabeth Hay

Between, Georgia
I have just finished listening to the book Between, Georgia by Joshilyn Jackson and I wanted to report to you all that it is a great book. I thought I had reserved the book from the library but somehow I reserved the CD version read by the author and boy am I glad I did. Joshilyn (I believe) lives in Georgia so how great was it to hear her read it in the accent you imagine the characters having. I myself am from Georgia and have long ago long my accent but Joshilyn brought it swimming back to me. The characters in this book are my long lost relatives and gone but not forgotten friends. I sobbed when the book ended, I made Amelia drive around with me to finish listening to it, I even considered a road trip just to listen to more. All I'm saying people is...READ IT!Buy it here... http://joshilynjackson.com/between.html
or read her blog here...she's pretty damn funny! http://www.joshilynjackson.com/mt/
